So you think you know all about Columbia. Well, this group of beginner computer hackers decided to set up this web site about the natural areas in Columbia. We hope that after you see our web site, you will want to drop everything and race to Columbia, Missouri, to see these places!! (But before you go, turn off your computer)

Of course, being the beginners that we are, we had a few difficulties and surprises when we took on this project. First, Walmart sent our photographs to the wrong lab. Then, while collecting our information for this project, we noticed that the best places to visit had the least information available. However, while visiting these nature areas, some of our members realized how beautiful the trails were, and how many trails there were to explore. We were also surprised at how smoothly this project went -- we sent a lot of information to each other via e-mail, and it worked very well.

We would have changed a few things, if we could have. We wish we could have taken the photographs in the spring when the trees were in bloom. However, we think that the pictures look beautiful in the fall as well. We do hope to expand and make this project bigger . . . stay tuned for more information. We would have talked to people who lived on the Katy Trail, or people who take care of Rockbridge State Park.

One last thought: people always talk about how they want to "get back to nature" . . . these are great places to relax and enjoy. Go for a bike ride, take a walk, or just sit back and watch the sunset.

When you access each recreational area on this web page, you will find information about the location, costs, hours, history, and activities available. We hope that based on this information, you will choose to visit these areas.

Here is a list of the sites that we cover:
  1. The Finger Lakes
  2. The MKT Trail
  3. Rock Bridge State Park
  4. The Katy Trail
  5. Little Dixie
