Description/History:

In 1986, the Missouri-Kansas-Texas (MKT) railroad line was transformed into the 200-mile Katy Trail that exists today. The trail passes through most of Missouri's bottomlands, and it is ideal for biking and hiking. One of the frequently visited town on the trail is historic Roacheport, which began as an early trading post on the Missouri River. Today, Rocheport is the gateway to the Katy Trail State Park. This area is unique because the trail winds between the Missouri River and river bluffs, making hiking and biking a scenic adventure. (TOO SAPPY??) The town itself has antique shops, resturants, bed and breakfast establishments, and a winery. Visitors can relax and watch the sunset after a long day's ride or hike, or they can stop at the tasting toom in the winery. Visitors will find Rocheport a historic, relaxing stop on the Katy Trail.
